Sandwich – a truly useful and tasty invention of mankind. Even in the Middle ages, instead of plates, people used large pieces of bread, which put fish, vegetables, meat and other food. When I eat all these foods, the rest of the bread given to the dog, thrown away, and if the family is poor – then just ate. The progenitors of hot sandwiches also appeared quite a long time ago, when a person noticed that the melted cheese has a more interesting taste, and began to spread it on pieces of bread.

The word "butterbread" has German roots and is formed from a combination of two words: butter and bread. After all, the simplest classic sandwich consists of bread and butter. It is the basis of a huge variety of sandwiches in many countries of the world. According to one version of the classic sandwich invented by Copernicus, a famous doctor and scientist. It was he who advised to smear bread with butter during epidemics, which made it possible to better see the dirt on it and, if necessary, just clean it.

Many countries seek to take credit for the invention of the sandwich. Jews claim that in ancient times, making sacrifices, they smeared their bread "matzah" with oil and honey, putting one piece on another. The British believe that the founder of sandwiches – John Sandwich, the first who came up with putting meat between layers of bread. Danes and Swedes also claim to be the first in the invention of this dish.
