RE: Green Juice High

in #food5 years ago (edited)

That juice looks delicious even it didn't taste it - maybe melon and cucumber instead of courgette (pointless veg if you ask me.... I mean when was the last time you consciously fancied eating a courgette?).

But that juicer brought back painful memories of chopping feeding and.... cleaning mine.

I got a bit obsessed at one point - to the extent of growing my own wheatgrass and chucking that in.

Still I got over it - offloading it was a blessed release (it was a bloody heavy thing).

My Nutribullet is so much less hassle and you can pulverise quite a lot of green in a large cup, probably still more nutrients than ur body can digest in one go, esp.with some (bought) wheatgrass powder chucked in!

Haha I did have a phase where I loved courgette actually.. Spiralizing it to make spaghetti ;) It is weird in a juice though, and I would never usually use it in one, if not for it being in the juicing box, which motivated me to try it.

You know, it's funny because the cleaning process is what put me off juicers too (the first time I owned one). It was so much hassle! This time, I have this different juicer (which my friend has lent to me indefinitely), and I'm finding the cleaning process really straightforward and am not bugged by it at all. Plus the juices are totally hitting the spot for me, so I think I am just way too in love to find it annoying right now :P

I have a nutribullet as well, and had a phase of being obsessed with green smoothies, but now I'm just not interested anymore... I mainly use my nutribullet to blend my Matcha Latte. And for making pesto. Definitely still appreciate having one around!

And I have to say, I've yet to try wheatgrass juice! Would be cute to have a wheatgrass patch at home I imagine hahah

I think too many marrows from the allotment has put me off courgettes. Are you sure you love them? I mean if you really loved them, surely you wouldn't need to spiralize them to make them appealing? Contrast that to Avocado which requires no such treatment - best spooned straight out of the shell if you ask me.

I had a similar juicer to the one in the pic - all I had to clean was this tiny, half fist sized filter, but even that was a pain, it still required specialist stiff brushes, and 'friend lent it to you indefinitely'... that sounds sort of familiar!

Each to their own though, the end product is great, beetroot, carrot, ginger, one of my faves.

You can buy wheatgrass kits to grow from seed, you should try it - they grow on your windowsill in a very short space of time (I think it was a fortnight, might be slightly more).
