Eating in Sydney: Pasta Emilia
Today I took my parents to a charming Italian restaurant called Pasta Emilia in Surry Hills. The place was rustic and beautiful. We had a very good time.
For entree we shared a salmon carpaccio marinated in vodka and dill served with fennel, capers and cucumbers. It was fresh and served well as an appetizer. Loved the salmon.
We ordered two pastas and a polenta dish to share. The first tortelli dish was pasta filled with spinach - ricotta and pumpkin - ricotta and the truffle cream sauce was simply divine. Very lovely flavors.
This was also a vegetarian dish. The soft polenta was smooth and the gorgonzola cheese added lots of intensity to the dish. The tomato sauce with porcini mushroom was also nice. I added their homemade chilli oil which made it pop.
The second tortelli dish was pasta filled with crab, prawn and a touch of lemon rind. The chilli tomato sauce was good but not spicy enough for me. Again I added some chilli oil to it.
The tiramisu was my favorite of the meal. It was such a generous serving. It was very smooth and had just the right amount of espresso and mascarpone.
