Crispy Honey-Glazed Fried Chicken
Ingredients
Spice Mix :
- 3 tablespoons salt
- 1/4 cup paprika
- 3 tablespoons garlic powder
- 3 tablespoons cumin
- 3 tablespoons cayenne pepper
- 3 tablespoons onion powder
- 3 tablespoons oregano
- Chicken Mix :
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 10 chicken drumsticks and thighs or wings
- oil for frying
- honey
- 4 cups buttermilk
Preparation
- In a bowl, mix salt, paprika, black pepper, cayenne pepper, cumin, oregano, onion and garlic powder.
- Mix half of the spice mix to the flour.
- In a bigger bowl, mix the chicken with remaining spice mix. Mix it well until all the chicken pieces are coated evenly.
- After mixing chicken and spice mix, add buttermilk and stir until the spices and buttermilk have blended well.
- Marinate the chicken for 4 to 8 hours.
- After marinating, heat oil in a large pan or iron skillet.
- Put every piece of chicken to the flour then dip it back to the buttermilk mixture, then back to the flour again. Shake off excess flour.
- Cook until the chicken are golden brown and crispy.
- Put the chicken pieces on a wire rack to drain off the excess oil.
- Sprinkle with honey.
