Do you remember....

Yes I do.

It was in 1982 of the previous century. Yes the previous century, a very long time ago. As a young girl I went to Canada to follow my adventurers heart and found a job as a horse groom at one of the major race tracks. Grooming and cleaning stables but I worked myself up the ladder and became an international trainer.

Around noon there was a truck coming to the ranch. "Metro is here"! While the little man in blue suit with dark glasses stepped out of his truck and opened the 'kitchen' we all went to the truck to get some heated food that was terrible and a mouth full fats but that was all there was.
The only one on TV at that time telling us how to keep a healthy body and eat healthy food was Jane Fonda. But I remember the turkey dinners more than ever eating apples and vegetables.

But then one of my friends said "let's order a Pizza"! PIZZA? What is that! We didn't have that in Holland. Within 20 minutes the delivery man knocked on the door with a big flat box. "One Pizza with everything on it". Whatever that was I didn't know. Plates and utensils seem not necessary, only beer!

My friend opened the box and I saw a big pancake. "O my goodness what on earth is that"! I saw olives, onions, ham, bacon, peppers red and green, mushrooms a bunch of cheese and the smell......that smell! "Go ahead guys I'll just stick with the beer and the potato chips I said and ofcourse I became the joke of the day. First they called me Tulip now they start calling me Pizza.

After awhile I had to get an extra job in the evenings to get some more cash and you probably guessed it, it was at an Italian restaurant.
The restaurant was called Sorrento's and right there I had my first slice of pizza because I was hungry. I even learned how to make Pizza the Italian style and now Pizza is now one of my favorite guilty pleasures on the planet.

I like all kinds of Pizza. With frutti de mar, with ham, lots of garlic or hot pepper, with bleu cheese, spinach and even anchovies. Sicilian, Napolitana. Quattro Stagioni with Tomato sauce, mozzarella, mushrooms, ham, artichokes, olives, and oregano. Carbonara with tomato sauce, mozzarella, parmesan, eggs, and bacon. Quattro Formaggi with tomato sauce, mozzarella, parmesan, gorgonzola cheese, artichokes, and oregano.

Prosciutto or Cardinale with tomato sauce, mozzarella, ham, and oregano,
Tonno with tomato sauce, mozzarella, tuna, and onions. I Love the Valtellina with tomato sauce, mozzarella, bresaola, Parmesan flakes and rocket. Pizza al Pesto with tomato, mozzarella, Genoese pesto, pine nuts, and olives

Wake me up for the Capricciosa with tomato sauce, mozzarella, ham, artichokes, mushrooms, and olives and for the Pizza tartufata with Mozzarella, truffle cream, and porcini mushrooms.
And so forth and so on but there is one pizza that is NOT DONE and that is the HAWAIIAN PIZZA. I am all for mixing salt sour and sweet together in some dishes but NOT ON A PIZZA.

Sort:

Irish Stout. Trust me. The two will work together.

I know you must be specialised in beer. Sweet goes with a lot but not with pizza. seriously. It goes with stews, and anything cooked just nit with pizza. I love Ireland by the way. Most of all the history and the castles.
