What food do people eat in America that people don't eat in England?

1.Biscuits and gravy

This dish gets a lot of hate from the Brits. First, they object to calling this a biscuit, as what they call a biscuit is what we call a cookie. And what we call a biscuit, in this case, is what they call a scone.

But the thing that really gripes them is the gravy. According to them, there is no such thing as “white gravy”. They say it is disgusting - something foul that has risen from the depths of hell to attack them and everything they love.

It’s just flour and water, folks. With some oil and spices. And, if you’re really fortunate, sausage. Nothing horrendous here.

I think that, coming from folks that eat blood sausage, the hate of American biscuits and gravy is pretty hypocritical.

It is actually quite delicious. Yes, it will clog your arteries, but I don’t believe that, as a nation, the Brits are actually all that concerned about that.

2.Grits

Or hominy gruel.

Again, it gets a lot of unwarranted hatred.

Yes, it is tasteless, but give it some butter, salt, and pepper, and eat it along with something savory like sausage or bacon, and it is actually quite delicious.

Also good with cheese.

3.Yellow cheddar

Speaking of cheese, a Brit would tell you that this is not how cheddar is supposed to look.

And I would have to agree with them on this one.

Americans don’t seem to know that “white cheddar” is what cheddar is supposed to be. Cheddar only becomes yellow when you add artificial coloring to it.

And this may be yellow, but it is not cheddar. Or cheese.

Though I do admit that I enjoy it. No shame.
