On the Siberian beds

in #food5 years ago

I have this beauty for the second year. Seeds issued from Chelyabinsk association "Gardens of Russia". Our Siberia is not far from the Urals.

I grow tomatoes in the open air ... even this year, when summer is overdue. They still grew.
For the first time in their life, the last fruits were harvested in October. And they are not spoiled. Amazing

In Siberia, we have not always grown tomatoes. My grandmother at the beginning of the last century waved:

  • Oh, them, some wet ...

But mom was able not only to grow tomatoes, but also to pickle and cook them for the winter. Usually collected buckets 20, enough for food and workpiece. Especially loved the "Bulgarian appetite."

Here is the prescription:

Three kilograms of tomato mince and cook for one hour.

After that, add half a cup of sugar, 300 grams (or 12 tablespoons) of vegetable oil, two tablespoons of salt, one teaspoon of black ground pepper.

Mix everything and bring to a boil.

Put a pound of grated carrots, one kilogram of sliced bell pepper. Boil another 20 minutes.
At the end of cooking add one or two heads of garlic.

Appetite is laid out hot in hot jars, turned over when cool. Clean in a cold place.

The appetite can be added to the first and second courses.
