Foodie stories 04: Chicken gravy

Mangalore, south of India, has a variety of spices, techniques of cooking, homemade buns and curries that is always a treat to your taste buds.

Today, will speak on how to prepare Chicken curry at home using indian spices.

Step 01:

Clean the chicken and cut it into the pieces according to your choice.

Get all the spices ready and grind it to make a paste out of it.

Step 03:

We love using clay pots to cook. You can use normal utensil.

Heat oil over a medium flame.

Step 04:

Now add curry leaves and once they start to splutter add the chopped onions. Now fry the onions for 10 to 12 minutes. Add little turmeric powder and keep stirring.

Step 05:

Add salt for taste.

Add the paste that we grinded in the start.

Step 07:

Add tomatoes to the mixture and fry for 5-6 minutes. Stir well. And keep the lid closed for 3-5 minutes.

Step 08:

Add the chicken and fry on a medium heat for 5 minutes. Stir well and continue to fry for 2-3 minutes as the chicken pieces get cooked.

Step 09:

Now simmer over to low heat, put the lid on for 25-30 minutes and stir half way.

Step 10:

After stirring well, garnish it with fresh coriander and serve with rice.
