Congee and noodles in Hong Kong, China!

Have you seen this kind of noodles? We went to a local congee restaurant and it was very nice!

We are in Hong Kong, China, mainly the Central district and we have been eating out most of the time. During lunch we went to this local congee (rice porridge) restaurant called Law Fu Kee. It was super busy and super crowded but the queue dissipated very quickly because people don't stick around after they finish.

We ordered this meat sauce noodles that came with a very salty broth. The meat sauce was basically a sweet version of bolognaise... tomatoes, minced pork and not just a little sugar as far as my taste-buds can tell. The noodles on the other hand had a wonderful texture and the suitable amount of strength though lacks the flavor of wheat if you eat it alone. The mix of the sauce and the noodles was perfect because the taste is just right while the texture of the noodles really adds to the enjoyment.

We also ordered the congee, which was what the restaurant is famous for. There's a surprising amount of meat slice down there but it's all covered by the congee. The texture was wonderful, it's hard to describe but it was very soft. Maybe a watery custard. It exists in a state between solid and liquid. It's really really good is all I can say. Guess this is why it's famous!

We also ordered boiled vegetables which came with a thick oyster sauce which was once again sweet. I'm not very fond of sweet in my savory food, but it was alright. Next time I come, I'll skip the noodles and vegetables and order congee and maybe try the dumplings!
