Various varieties of fruits are produced throughout the year. However, its climate and geology are more suitable for the production of tropical fruits. Currently, production in the country is about 70 kinds of fruits. Among them, banana is the foremost side by planting. According to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) data, fruit cultivation of 3,00,00,00 acres of land across the country, but more than 35 percent of the bananas

The collar is cultivated in all seasons of the year. However, the best time to plant saplings is Jyoth and Ashar. Ashwin-Kartikei is also planted. Seven varieties of bananas are being cultivated on a commercial basis. One of the varieties is Amritasagar, Sabri, Champa, Bari Kala-I, Meherasagar and Kawari. Although the cultivation of bananas is dominated by different species, they are the most commonly cultivated in Tangail district. After this, the highest number of banana cultivation is in Narsingdi, Mymensingh, Bandarban and Khagrachari districts.

Production of fruit is continuously increasing due to commercial cultivation. According to the BBS data, in the year 2008-09, the cultivation of bananas in the country was 30 thousand acres. On the contrary, production was 2 million 19 thousand tons. In the year 2014-15, the area of cultivation increased to 1,15,000 acres. From this amount of land, bananas are available in the fiscal year 7 lakh 77 thousand tonnes.

According to the former Vice-Chancellor of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) and Professor of International University of Science and Technology (IUBAT) Professor Dr Md Jahangir Chowdhury, he said that farmers are not interested in cultivating rice as they are not interested in rice cultivation. AM Farooq He told the merchant's message that farmers are getting good profits because of some result of export opportunities and market connectivity. Besides, farmers are also interested in producing fruits due to fruit processing industry. For this reason, farmers are still more focused on cultivating a few fruits.

Most of the cultivation is only after the banana mango According to the BBS statistics, 19.55 percent of the land under the fruits of plantation is occupied by mango In the year 2014-15, the amount of mango cultivation was about 66 thousand acres of land. In contrast, production is 10 lakh 18 thousand tonnes of mango. The fruits lead to the cultivation of northern districts of Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj.

Now the opportunities for global leadership have been created in the production of mango. According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Bangladesh's position in mango production is now at the top ten in the world. The country's fruit drinks industry has been developed based on mango. Bangladeshi fruit drinks in the domestic and export markets have been created around Tk 2 billion.

Pineapple is the third fruit of the third crop. According to the BBS data, the fruit of the fruit year 2014-15 is about 34,000 acres, which is 10.55 percent of the total area under the fruit crop. On the contrary, production is about two million tons of pineapple. About 70 percent of the pomegranate produced in the country is coming from six districts. The highest production is Rangamati, Khagrachari, Mymensingh, Tangail and Gazipur. Besides, the fruit is also grown in Bandarban and Chittagong. But till now the pineapple processing plant does not grow and the plantation of the fruit is not being expanded as it is.

After cultivation of banana, mango and pineapple, most of the cultivation is jackfruit. High and red soil is particularly useful for cultivating the fruit. Because of the properties of the soil, there are forwarders of production of jackfruit in Savar, Gazipur, Narsingdi and Tangail. As BBS, 10-15 percent of total land used for producing fruit was under jackfruit cultivation in FY 2014-15. In the fiscal year, jackfruit is available from 33 thousand 151 acres of land, which is 10 lakh 60 thousand tonnes.

Watermelon is planted in other fruits, 11.11 percent and guava is 31 percent less than 31 percent. Nearly 21 percent of the remaining land is cultivated in other fruits. However, around 76 percent of total land under cultivation of combined fruit cultivation of banana, mango, pineapple and jackfruit.

The largest guava is produced in the southern districts of the country. Besides, various varieties of guava are cultivated in Chittagong, Dhaka, Gazipur, Khagrachari, Rangamati, Brahmanbaria, Comilla, Natore and Pabna districts. However, some Upazilas of Barisal, Jhalokati and Pirojpur districts are termed as 'Pyaararaj'. Paira production of FY 2007-08 was 1.55 million tonnes. In the year 2014-15, it increased to 2 lakh 5 thousand tons. The amount of guava is produced from about 9,300 acres of land.

Currently, around 47 lakh tons of fruits are produced in the country, but there is a huge shortage of daily per capita consumption. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, every day a person needs to eat 200 grams of fruits. In contrast, availability is only 78 g. For this, the government has taken initiatives to increase the cultivation and production of nutritious fruit. Under the Nutrition Development Project, the activities of 45 lakh families started in 362 upazilas in 45 districts of seven districts of the country through fruit production throughout the year.

The project director said. Mehedi Masud said that this program has been taken to increase the production of native fruits by bringing diversity in the production of fruit. To ensure fruitful results throughout the year, production from Maa Baishakh to Kartik will be helpful. There will be incentives to encourage the production of fruits in the homestead.
