France National Team's Strength in Depth is Incredible
France were heavy favourites to win Euro 2016, and came close to doing so. After some uncomfortable performances in Group A, where they edged past Romania and Albania before drawing with Switzerland, France came into their own in the latter stages of the competition, eventually losing out to Portugal in the final.
France's status as favourites did not rest solely on the tournament being played on their home soil. The depth of their squad was also a factor.

The above tweet from Daniel Storey illustrates just how much depth they have. Sure, its only a friendly, but France have left out some serious talent. Paul Pogba and Ousmane Dembele are two of the three most expensive players in history.
France will be among the contenders in Russia next summer, but picking that 23-man squad won't be easy.
