Manchester City continued from where they ended last season hitting two unreplied goals past Arsenal at the Emirates stadium in the first game under a new management.

Arsenal manager, Unai Emery was handling his first Premier League game in charge of the Gunners and it was definitely not a debut he would have wished for.

The game started on a balanced note with both teams looking to gain ground and it was City who got the better of the momentum.

Raheem Sterling who was criticised for much of the England's World Cup campaign after he failed to record a goal opened the scoring for City.

Cutting in from the left and dragging along with him the whole of Arsenal's defence before curling a shot past Petr Cech in goal.

The Former Chelsea goalkeeper was on alert to keep City at bay and give Arsenal a glimpse of hope going into half time with a series of fine saves.

With Arsenal struggling the introduction of Alexandre Lacazette swung the momentum in the Gunners' favour but they couldn't make that count with Mesut Ozil, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette guilty of spurning scoring chances.

Arsenal were not so convincing in the final third with the chances not coming and finding it hard to gain fluidity.

Sergio Aguero once again was guilty of squandering a glorious chance to the support of much of his critics who feel he has outlived his time in the City team.

The Man City all-time goal scorer was put through on goal after City cleared a corner kick and new Arsenal signing, Matteo Guendozi missed his clearance from half field which allowed the Argentine to go one-on-one with Cech but couldn't beat the veteran stopper.

Bernando Silva celebrates scoring City's second of the evening.

His blushes would be saved few minutes later after a fine exchange of passes between Mendy and Sterling allowed the French left back space on the left and cut back a cross into the 18-yeard box which found on-lurking Bernando Silva who fired a powerful one-time left-footed. shot past Cech to increase City's lead.

Unai Emery has a huge task ahead as his next league game is against London rivals, Chelsea who got off to a winning start on Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Huddersfield.
