Oliver Khan To Become Bayern CEO

Former Germany captain and Bayern Munich legend, Oliver Khan is set to replace Karl-Heinze Rumminegge as the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Bayern Munich.

Rumminegge, who has been CEO of the club since 2002 will be stepping down from his role in two years time when his contract expires and Oliver Khan has been identified as his replacement.

Speaking to reporters, the current CEO said it was high time the baton changed and he feels that Khan is the best man for the job.

Asides that, the choice of Oliver Khan has also been approved by the top management and the former Germany goalkeeper would understudy Rumminegge for the remaining two years on his contract.

Khan also speaking said he enjoys a good relationship with the team and that it would be a great challenge to fill the 63-year old's shoes.

Oliver Khan who is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers to have ever graced the game played for Bayern Munich in a 22-year span, between 1994 and 2008.

In what was a fruitful career, Khan featured for the Bavarians in over 600 appearances, winning eight Bundesliga titles, six DFB Pokal trophies and was also a part of the 2001 Champions League winning team.

He featured for Germany at National team level, 86 times, starring so much at the 2002 World Cup in Korea Japan that he won the Golden Ball Award, ahead of Brazil's Ronaldo de Lima, despite Germany losing the final to the Selecao.

Khan also won the Best Goalkeeper in Bundesliga award, eight times and was named European best keeper for four consecutive years between 1999 and 2002.
