North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will be protected by Chinese fighter jets during a flight to Singapore to meet US President Donald Trump.
The second meeting of the leaders to resolve the Pyongyang nuclear crisis will take place on Sentosa Island, Singapore, on June 12, 2018.
"Maybe this is a message addressed to the US-ROK alliance (Republic of Korea or South Korea) that China is a strong supporter of Kim's regime. "
The Hong Kong-based newspaper, which was acquired by Alibaba Group in December 2015, also reported that Beijing is seeking to expand its influence on Pyongyang ahead of the historic meeting.
In recent months, the US, South Korea and North Korea have engaged in unprecedented encounters. This series of diplomatic acts brings hope that the Korean War will be officially terminated while reducing the risk of nuclear conflict around the Korean peninsula.
