ROSE PEDALS (5-minute Freewrite)

The small contraption whirred and propelled itself forward. Marlique's understanding of the device was limited, but that didn't stop her from enjoying the sensation coursing through her small frame. Below her the leather cushion supported her quite well. Her thin arms, now stretched to their maximum length, just reached the whittled stick across the front of the machine. Her legs pumped and she was concious of the warning Darvin supplied.

"Keep your wings back. Closed and pinched tight. You'll be moving fast when you come to the bottom and you wouldn't want to snatch wind and go sailing. Although, now that I think of it, that would be quite fun as well." Darvin glanced down the steep hill. He pressed a finger to his chin and thought in silence. "No. No. You just hold on. I might try that stunt next. Off with you!"

She was keen to follow his warning. Marlique placed one leaf covered foot onto the rose pedal, and stepped onto the twig and vine framework. Her lithe fairy body almost floated up and over the seat. When her other foot pushed off the ground the bicycle moved forward. As the front wheel dipped downhill her heart skipped a beat and she lost her breath for a moment.
