RE: FREEWRITE: RODEO

in #freewrite5 years ago

I love Juan the bull (and the cousin he's named for), love that little girl, and love her oldest daughter! Your "heart cries" at the sight of cruelty to animals. (Me too.)

You taught me something I didn't know. I had to look up Toros coleados. "The coleo is an abusive sport, which stands out for its cruelty and lack of sensitivity to the pain of others. Unlike a bullfight, where the blood that spouts from the animal is visible, the calf that is kicked presents internal spills, nothing perceived by the spectators, for what many think is a bloodless sport. The wounds of animals such as bruises of internal organs, hemorrhages, broken bones, tendons, muscles and torn ligaments, are expected and anticipated in this violent tradition. The promoters of the coleo consider that these animals are cheap, disposable, and replaceable, and that is why they are used again and again (in smaller sleeves) until their battered and bruised bodies end up in the slaughterhouse."
There is more, but I will spare @freewrite fans from further details. https://www.animanaturalis.org/p/1345/no-al-coleo

Hello dear friend @carolkean ... yes it is very sad that they are considered disposable, as you mention it based on your research.

Likewise, it is a pleasure to know that we have something more in common and thank you for passing and commenting.
