5 Minute Freewrite Day 502: Let's Eat

This was the first time she had been alone in a while, but it wasn’t a bad thing, even if she had grown used to the company of those mercenaries, it wasn’t her place anymore, it was best to be alone, but still… it brought back memories, feelings, her mother died long ago, and her father never was caring or even compassionate. Her few friends from her peaceful days were hundredths of miles away, probably dead too.

She was strong, she could endure it, but the sensation was still there, even in this cozy Inn, full of delicious aromas and joyful people. Her thoughts were interrupted by the noise of two plates full of a spicy-looking meat and the refilling of her drink, a strong liquor. She was going to just say her thanks and dismiss the waitress, but something stopped her: the woman, a couple of years younger, was looking at her with the biggest and most concerned eyes she had seen in a while. They were blue, but in the dim light or her corner, they seemed a shade of purple she dearly missed.

A second passed without a word or any movement, and then the younger girl smiled and sat down, “let’s eat, it’s my free time now”, she said. Under other circumstances, the self invitation would have made her uncomfortable, but now, the blush on the other’s cheeks invoked a warm and pleasant red of her own. She accepted the new presence, and for a few days, and even a couple of late night, she asked for it.
