A weekend freewrite! I love these. It really stretches me creatively, which is incredibly therapeutic. Hope you enjoy!

Prompt/first sentence: "Don't you know that violence is an expression of an unmet need?" He said with a smile. She wanted to punch him in the face.

"Don't you know that violence is an expression of an unmet need?" He said with a smile. She wanted to punch him in the face.

The fibers of rope dug at her wrists. The more she wiggled, the deeper the burn. She wondered if they were bleeding yet.

"I thought by now you would understand me," he clicked his tongue. "But here we are," he motioned around him. "Sitting in this lovely dining room, our dining room about to have a meal. Roast beef isn't as good cold. It's just unfortunate that you picked this time to voice your concerns."

Linda dug her bare toes into the plush carpet, and gritted her teeth. The pain from the syringe pulsed in her neck. He had called what she had said "concerns". What an understatement. If she had had her way, he would be sitting in this chair, not her.

Prompt 2: Yes, I can see that. I have to start correcting her behavior.

The vibration of his cell phone rattled from the kitchen counter. He switched on the radio, and walked the short distance to answer.

Symphonic music permeated the small room, but she was still able to make out his words.

"Yes, I can see that. I have to start correcting her behavior," he said.

Pause

"No, no. I don't think that will be necessary. She will understand."

Pause

"If it comes to that, then fine."

Pause

"I understand."

He returned a moment later, a smile on his lips and a knife in his hand.

Prompt 3: rain and lightning put an end to this

"Who was that?" Linda asked, boldly staring into his face.

"That was our boss," he said kneeling down beside her.

"Ha," she said. "He's not my boss."

"That's just the kind of thing he thought you would say. It seems like he saw this coming." He shook his head as he ran the blade back and on her bindings.

"What's happening?" She asked. Perspiration bewded on her forehead as she scanned the room for a weapon.

"Well, I told him I would make you see," he said finally snapping through the last rope. "See our way."

Linda snorted, but sat calmly in the chair as she rubbed her raw wrists.

He sat across from her at the table, hands folded in front of him.

"You don't have many choices, and I simply cannot understand your thoughts."

"You, and everything you stand for disgusts me," she spat. "You don't have to understand. You are the very problem. The entirety of our relationship," she gave a brief shudder, "has been dependent on finding information, but I had no idea how deep it ran."

"You never loved me?" He pouted.

Linda laughed. "Don't start acting like you were ever doing more than pretending. You were assigned to me. I saw the records."

"It's true. But, alas, I found myself caring all the same. Why do you think you're still alive? Any other agent would have disposed of you hours ago."

A crack of thunder sounded outside. Rain and lightning followed.

"Put an end to this," Linda said. "There's nothing you have, nothing that could change me."

He glanced towards the T.V. that hung over the mantle. Linda took this opportunity and lurched forward over the table knocking them both to the floor. Grabbing his right arm, she wrapped her right leg around his bicep and under his chin, folding her left leg over and securing the triangle choke. He clawed at the floorboards as his face turned purple. Just as he fingers were losing momentum, the floorboard snapped off the wall on a hinge revealing a small red button. He pushed it as he went unconscious.

The T.V clicked on. Linda's son peered down at her.

"Mom, let him go."

Thanks guys for reading!! Like I said before, these are so fun to explore where your limits are...and then if you're brave enough...pushing right through! Until next time!
