Getting out of shape does sneak up on you and doesn't seem to take very long to happen in comparison to what it took to get there in the first place. In my case, I blame nature. :)

Mothers do have it particularly hard—gain the weight during the pregnancy, try to find time to take it off but with a newborn, that's hard, and so the weight can linger longer than it should and become harder to take off.

But it sounds like Paige was able to enough to get back into her dinner dress, feel good about herself, and start inviting guests over.
