It's just over a week before the premiere of Sonic Mania Plus , so SEGA wants players to know the development process of this version of the game. In case you do not remember, it is a physical edition of the original title, which will include new content.

The company today shared the first development diary of Sonic Mania Plus , where he comments on the art and design of the game. Tom Fry, art director, and Kazuyki Hoshino, creative director of the Sonic Team, talk about the original title and what they had to plan for Sonic Mania Plus .

At the beginning of the video they talk about Ray the Flying Squirrel and Mighty the Armadillo, extra playable characters that will accompany Sonic and company. According to the creatives, they had to redesign both, as they could not recover much of the original material from other games.

While new animations were required, the creators did their best to preserve the design and original movements of Ray the Flying Squirrel and Mighty the Armadillo. Without further ado, I leave the video below:

In addition to the new characters, Sonic Mania Plus will include the Encore Mode, which will offer a new experience of classic zones of the franchise. On the other hand, the Competition and Time Attack modalities will receive support for games between 4 players.

If you already have the original title, you should know that you can get all the news when you purchase the Encore DLC Pack , which will be distributed in exchange for $ 4.99 USD. This edition of the game will sell for $ 29.99 USD.

Sonic Mania Plus will come to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One next July 17. Find more information about him in this page .
