Never a Good Day | Daily Freewrite Prompt - Sponge

in #freewrite5 years ago

Kong heard some choking sound from the kitchen and without a second thought rushed to the place. What he saw shocked him as his mum was choking and gagging with pale blueish face. Again.

He quickly tried to take out the stuff in her mouth after noticing some big chunk of thing stucked in there.

"Sponge? How did this thing go into your mouth?" he asked with worried tone.

Still coughing a little, she replied "I stuffed it in there. I felt like vomiting but nothing came out so I figured this could help."

"Don't ever do that again, mom!" Kong reprimanded him, with love yet firm.

Aunt Susie was the most caring neighbour in the neighbourhood until she was diagnosed with a rare disease whereby her autoimmune system would attack her own's immune system, causing her to be weak and pain all over. No amount of medication helped. And she didn't believe in surgeries or acupuncture or prayers. Nothing. Except herself.

Her self-reliance did wonders. Doctors said she could live one year plus but it had been almost 10 years since she was diagnosed.

Yesterday was the biggest relapse when her body refused all sorts of food and drink. Any consumption led her to feeling nauseous and hallucinating.

She would be declaring out that she saw her ancestors and that she wanted to die. She even begged Kong to put her to rest eternally by giving her poison or some sort.

She had been doing funny stuff of late. Yesterday she stuffed plastic bags into her mouth. Today, she used sponge. And doctor just diagnosed her with new illness - severe depression. But it didn't look like depression to Kong at all.

Kong and family prayed and hoped things would turn out better eventually. It had been a daunting 10 years plus for the entire family. Kong is in dire need of help. He said he is the one close to depression. Not her.

A real story of what happened to my friend lately, although I didn't use the real name. My prayers go out to 'Kong' and his family.
