Weekend Freewrite 3-piece: Overhead and underestimated

The entire village was outside, waiting for the expected sign in the sky. It came every 6 months, without fail, but this time it was different as malice and awe were upon us. It’s fall shook the earth at kilometers per second in a wave of unforgiven permission-to-permeate. It was bone-blinding, the rattle of it took everyone’s very senses. The last fall was of no use predicting the martyr of a boulder that fell down on the plains today. “Everyo-“ The man expressed a flash of leadership before being overshadowed, and out-vocalized by the chase-wave of the first impact.
A nearby town neighboring the village was in better proximity to see and not so deafly feel the impact. A placid onlooker made notice. “Look at that,"as she spoke, and, would well do to telling each busload of tourists pouring their gazes over, pointing and jaws not holding to hinges as the plume of smoke stole a portrait worthy section of the landscapes view. “That... that was far, far greater of an impact than usual.” Said a dumbfounded tourist.
The stain got bigger as the roll of hills was now all too literal. Undulating and aggressive, the earth deformed compliant to the cratering caress. There, after a grumbling of the final buildings left turning to debris, calmness returned to the town. ‘Worse things have happened?’ Thought a young man regaining his control of posture and nerves. He looked out across to the field where the dimpling of smoke began to carry on the wind.
