Cherries.

What to think about cherries.

I think of a cheap sundae with bad ice cream with a cherry on top that tastes like a piece of plastic dipper in pear juice. The best tasting cherries I’ve probably ever had have been dried cherries – natural from an Amish general store in Michigan.

Michigan has great cherries. I wonder how a state starts to be known for a product like that. Michigan – cherries, California – oranges, Hawaii – coconuts…or is it pineapples? It’s probably a very simple answer. The climate and conditions make it a clear fit, and the state has done a good job of promoting this product. Not promoting, but supporting it.

I love fruits, but cherries, unless they are freshly picked, kind of taste bland. That’s the case with any good food – under the wrong conditions, it’s terrible, like a black banana or a mushy avocado.

Now I’m hungry, but not for cherries.

Cherries also are used in a lot of phrases for one reason or another – cherry on top, pop a cherry (not really an appropriate term). Looks like my time has come to an end and the cherry is down to just its stem. Have a great day!
