5- minute freewrite Day 538 prompt: shade
Bertha looked at the purple carpet and sighed. There was so much to like about her new apartment, but the carpet was not on that list. Why purple? The walls were a neutral shade of tan, and the appliances were stainless steel, and there was an air conditioner, and a cute little balcony, and enough room for her bird cage, piano, dog crate, and art table. But purple carpet? Who in their right mind puts purple carpet in an apartment? It was going to clash with her orange curtains, for sure. Well, no matter, the rent was affordable, and she would make the best of it. All her furniture was in place, and there were only a few boxes of clothes and books left to unpack. She was tired of unpacking. Perhaps an art project would help her to relax and unwind, along with a glass of wine.
Bertha got out her pack of canvases, and the paints and the brushes. As she spread it all out on her desk, her hand brushed against her wine glass. Oh no! Wine all over the carpet on her first day here! Wait: the carpet is purple!!!
HaHa! After I read the first sentence I said, "Purple carpet?!?!" And then I cringed when you wrote that there were orange curtains. OMG!
It's funny how these freewrites just sort of take off and go where they want to.

Purple carpet and that carpet does stand out in the living hall. And even the wine could blend into it. Haha. =)
