On the edge

in #freewrite6 years ago (edited)

I've always been close to the edge and sometimes I write about it. Here is an effort I've come up with:

A crowd of sorrows began laughing intermittently like some timid tart in the October dust of her life and lost among the jokers that would take all she had and spit her out afterwards used and defeated.
At the edge of the echoes of this where the madness screamed to be let in, the clandestine bad thoughts were doing the rounds of the long dark night of the soul and would not be stopped for anything.

Day and night they pounded on all the doors hard shut against them as inside the small murmur of a beating heart endured.
“What have I done to deserve this?” was one question, and “why me?” was another.
It was a miserable uprising where no change came; but anger only swirled the dust to cloud more what was already clouded in the mire that is illusion gone strange.

Humour lit a match that was soon blown out and wishes dropped to squirm on the hard beaten ground of doubt that came to hole the bucket where hope could never climb.
Time, that long wait through the hopeless pressed down the weight where moment to moment too much time passed and no direction came to move away; and yet, as the mind orchestrated all this, the heart rallied, and dropping all extraneous stuff and became a rock that the tide of fear washed over but could not get in.

Sometimes you know how this happens and can go back to it, but mostly it just happens when you are at the bottom with no way out and are hanging on the edge with the huge drop below you and some kind of doom above you...
And then someone comes and says: cheer up, it may never happen...

"Cheer up" is quite a self-absorbed thing to say to someone who's feeling depressed, isn't it. It really makes you feel like you are not being seen and are being dismissed.

The old "What have I done to deserve this?" I do confess I asked that myself just recently. It's not a question where an answer is forthcoming :)

I will try to remember. I'm new so this is all an uphill thing where I'm trying to find my way around. Right now I'm looking into delegation, but not sure if it is worth doing right now

you seem to be getting pretty good votes. Just keep powering up - your account will grow. delegations seem to be pretty expensive right now...
