If You're Happy and You Know It
"If you're happy and you know it clap your hands If you're happy and you know it clap your hands. If you're happy and you know it and you really want to show it, if you're happy and you know it clap your hands!"
That is a song that I didn't write and I really don't know who did, but I sang and taught it to toddlers in Sunday school for many years.
My mother-in-law and I taught these little babes beginning Bible stories. We arranged crafts and, if needed, we'd change diapers, feed them snacks and sit around in a little tiny room in a church basement entertaining these toddlers so their moms and dads could listen to their own Sunday school teachers.
I remember those lovely little toddlers so well (all grown up now). They came in to class early Sunday morning and learned how to sit still, sing songs about Jesus and how to make beautiful crayon pictures and crafts for gifts to their parents.
There's something truly precious about young children when they still have their innocence, when they can tell that you are a kind and loving person and they respond very quickly to you. They even ask you to pick them up and hold them, or they will sit near you and entertain you for as long as you can focus your attention on them.
There's nothing more joyful to me than sitting with a child who's clearly loved and well taken care of who is happy. That is the epitome of innocence.
We were all innocent once. Fresh out of diapers and toddling around, learning how to taste, touch, and experience the world.
We were happy if the right food was on our plate or a delicious sweet drink was in our cup. We were happy if a puppy or a kitten came into our range or when the stuffed animal that our grandparents bought for us was tucked close to us in bed.
As we get older, different things make us happy. But often the things we thought should or would make us happy do not.
It's a real struggle to come back down to the simple things. We should challenge ourselves to be happy in the moment over simple things. Relinquish the baggage momentarily. Stop worrying about the next paycheck or that bill that came in, or even when you're going to go shopping next. These things eventually will work themselves out. Sometimes it's enough just focus on the little things.and be happy.
Don't forget to be as a child and to enjoy moments. Look out the window and begin to daydream again.
Times up!

Yes I remember this song well from my kids. Sunday school plays a very important role in their childhood. Especially on the love and care these teachers gave. And dedication beyond their responsibilities. Always remember this song Thank You by Ray boltz. A section of it refers to the Sunday school teacher. It's a beautiful Christian song. God bless
