She grew tired of stalking them. They were too predictable; stumbling out of the bars, or texting on their phones while walking down a dimly lit alley.

They didn’t even try to fight.

They fell limp in her arms.

If she didn’t need to feed, she wouldn’t even bother.

They did not excite her, and the hunt wasn’t an adventure like in the good old days.

She reminisced about the thrilling nights she would find an unsuspecting subject and they would run wild into the forest. They gave her a chase.

At least they tried to get away from her.

She loved the memories of their screams; pleading her to not take their lives.

But those days were gone.

The generation of zombies emerged, and she didn’t like the taste of their blood.

It was polluted with toxins and full of chemicals and preservatives.

They didn’t even bother to grow their own food. They bought it from boxes and cans. There was no going back to the delicious farmers of the land.

Although she feared their silver pitchfork, they were more fun than the people walking around now.

No, she wouldn’t fight the depression any longer.

There was no need to try.

She would sleep for a few hundred years and come back to life after these creatures faded away.

She only hoped when she awoke this dreadful feeling will have vanished in the same way as her prey’s desire to live.
