RE: Black, White, and RED All Over, part 1-- Ironwood Hamilton from #freewrite in an extended story!

Hi deeanndmathews!

A very well written novel quality writing, characterizations, and dynamic plot development. Enjoyable read!

One thing is not clear to me when is this action set in time.

On one hand, the officers mentioning that the described time isn't 1819. If one of them is 45 years of age then it must be 1863 or so - a year close to the end of the Civil War. On the other hand, the text mentions desktop publishing software, which appeared only at the end of the 20th century.

Once I understand the time when this is set, it will be easier for me to appreciate other fine points of your novel.

Cheers!

Sort:

Summer of 2019 -- basically NOW (although I wrote it in July, so make it July 2019)!

Captains Hamilton and Lee are both 45, born in the tail end of the civil rights period, coming home to mostly rural Virginia after Charlottesville ...

LOL. The question is not when you wrote it, my lady, but what time period you are writing about.

If Hamilton and Lee were born around 1860 then when they are 45 it is 1905. At that time there were no computers let along - printing software. That's why I am confused. )))

The story takes place in the summer of 2019. Pickup trucks, domestic terrorism, computers, and Steemit (and Palnet too)! Lee is a great-great-great-nephew, Hamilton a great-great-great-grandson...

Got it. Now let me reread it with this understanding. Thank you kindly!

You're welcome!
