Onboarding Friends and Family to Steem?
This has always been the idea in social media. You are where your family and friends are. At least for the personal social media accounts. Because you might use a different social media website for your business contacts, or distinct platforms for different niches.
But the idea remains. People want to be where their family and friends are. Or where their business contacts are. Other details about the platform may not be as important as this particular aspect.
On Steem, onboarding is a recurring issue, especially if we talk about creating 'free' accounts en masse and quickly.
That's why, lately, most dapps and other projects have tried to include their own version of onboarding, to make the entire process smoother.
The option that seems the best right now from what I know is created by @oracle-d, which offers the basic form of creating a new Steem account for $2 USD, also adding a delegation of 15 STEEM for 90 days to it. The account is created instantly, and paid for with a credit card, via Stripe.
They also offer vouchers, which can be claimed by participants to various events or gatherings related to crypto. The claimers of these vouchers can then onboard new users to STEEM free of charge and instantly at that event. That is so awesome and so well targeted!
But, for someone who is not part of the crypto world and would like to join STEEM and bring family and friends along, can we improve the offer at @oracle-d? There is already a very nice referral program there, and the referrer receives 3SP for 90 days for every new referral.
But I was wondering if we could integrate this or an alternate solution in our Steem interfaces, and also add something like an "Invite your friends" option, which would automatically send an invite to email contacts or social media contacts, if selected. This option should be available on creating the new account, or in the future, at the account holder's choice.
I'm not inventing the wheel here, it's something ordinary on more developed interfaces, and it would help viralize Steem.
What do you think? Any more ideas that would improve the onboarding of friends and family at once?
After HF20, creating an account has some RC cost, and all users can claim accounts, if they have enough resourced. I understood that you could do it if you have >5000 SP, and several dAps are doing it. I know for sure about Steem Monsters and Actifit, but many others might do it...
Yes, that's true. As far as I know actifit offers a paid onboarding solution also, and Steem Monsters creates free accounts but only for those who buy the starter pack, so the cost it's included.
I know people who are offering free accounts, but on a limited basis, an often requiring some proof that this is not abused to create alt accounts, or to friends and known community members.

It should be like this, because we need good quality users. Everything here is added to the blockchain, and you need resourced to manage the complexity of running everyyhing. To spend those resource for spam or bots is sub-optimal.

I'm so familiar with Oracle-D, but didn't know they had this system that works off fiat currency. That's great. Not sure how to improve upon it, but I like how you're thinking.
