WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER BEFORE CHOOSING YOUR FRIENDS

A naive person foolishly trusts people. He watches nothing, but leaps regularly. He has made several leaps in the past without getting hurt, so he assumes I can continue to leap without watching. The naive person is fast to relay his vision, dreams, aspirations, past, secrets to anyone that gets him or her talking. He doesn't know how to tread the waters softly. You know it occurred to me in the bible that the Apostles had to look for men of honest report in the early church to appoint over the business of serving tables.

Act 6:3 "wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business"

That is even in the early church, where the believers shared all things in common, a search had to be conducted to find men that are honest. To assume that all men are honest self deceit. We must consider seriously those we let in into our core relationships that have immeasurable influence over our lives.

Let us look at some types of friendships to avoid:

1.Liars: we must avoid liars. Especially those who when they tell lies and you catch them red handed and they say they were only joking. A liar will do you no good. A liar will end up hurting you.

Proverbs 6:16-19 - these six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him. A proud look, a lying tongue, and a hand that shed innocent blood. An heart that devise wicked imagination, hand b swift in running to mischief. A false witness that speak lies, and he that sow discord among brethren.

The greedy: anyone who loves money and acquires it through dubious means is not a candidate for friendship.The greedy values money more than people.

Proverbs 15:27 - he that is greedy of gain trouble his own house, but he that hate gifts shall live.

The insecure person is one who lacks self-esteem or suffering from low self-esteem. Such people easily get jealous. As you announce your progress before them you fuel their burning altar of jealousy.

Proverbs 27:4 wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous;but who is able to stand before envy?

PEOPLE TO RELATE WITH

The truthful - it is always the best to relate with a person who is truthful. A person who tells the truth even when it will cost him something. It is very important to relate with men of integrity. You can achieve a whole lot with truthful friends than the cunning and scheming ones.

Proverbs 12:19 - the lip of truth shall be established for ever:but a lying tonque is but for a moment.

The faithful - the faithful are men of integrity. The faithful are men that don't suddenly disappoint you after you have concluded a plan together. The faithful ae men who are not moved by circumstances. They are secure in themselves and they don't see people as things or instruments used to achieve their objective. The faithful don't stay with you only when things are going well but they are also with you in the times of challenges.

Proverbs 25:19 - confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.

The wise-your level of wisdom is a function of a group of friends. Water always finds it level. If you walk with wise, you will end up wise but if you walk with fools you will be destroyed.

Proverbs 13:20 - he that walk with wise men shall be wise:but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

The Godly:we surely need the godly people as our closest companion. Godly friends will stimulate your heart towards God who is author and the fountain of wisdom. When you have godly friends you will live a very peaceful life. Even when you want to go astray to do evil they will come around and caution you. Your godly friends will give you godly counsel and tell you blunt truth when you are carried away by lust for money, women etc.
