This is one of my nostalgic fruits in my childhood. In the yard of my house grew some tree trunks that I remember always bear dense fruit. My sister and I will be busy choosing black samarinda fruit, because the black fruit means very ripe, so even though it's a bit sap, but it tastes sweet enough. In Aceh and surrounding areas, we call it Samarinda Fruit, while in Betawi is often called Fruit Kerendang. In some places on the island of Java called Buah Samarinda, while in English known as Christ's Thorn, Bengal Currant, or Christmas Plum.
