What are those green leaves in the forest?
Ramsons, or wild garlic, in other words. This plant is edible before blooming, and of course, very tasty and healthy. Ramsons can be found in Transdanubia, especially in the Bakony mountains. The leaves have very aromatic, garlic-like smell. Best, when they are young, we used to eat it raw or cooked as cream soup or pesto. It's a herb, too, it has a strong cleansing and antihypertensive effect.
Today I was out in the Bakony mountains, and took a bag of ramsons. I took the leaves carefully, only 2-3 leaves from one root. But some people never take care of them, they devastate the ramsons field, gathering tons of leaves, then sell them out at the market. That's a damage of nature and I'm afraid they'll uproot this plant in many areas. Fortunately, this area is far from the tourist paths, protected from people.
