ecoDesigns Weekly Report and posts of the Week

This week has been a very challenging week for us at @ecodesigns. However, we were able to record a series of achievements amidst the socio-political crisis that is currently affecting our region.
Since Sunday the 30th of September till date, we haven’t opened @ecodesigns due to the current Anglophone crisis that is affecting the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon. On Sunday, the Governor of the North West Region signed a communiqué that prohibited the movement of persons and goods within and without the North West Region for 48 hours. This communiqué came after the pro-secessionists fighters verbal communique that cautioned everyone to stay indoors from the 25th of Septemeber to the 10th of October 2018.

Yesterday, the Governor issued another 48 hour ban on the movement of anything because today the 7th of October, 2018 Cameroonians are going to the polls to vote for a new president. While Cameroonians from other regions are going to the polls, @ecodesigns trainees are going to be hibernating because a strict warning from the secessionist fighters have been given for all English speaking Cameroonians to stay indoors and not to participate in the elections.
For eight days, the doors of @ecodesigns have been closed and prior to closing our doors for that duration, we had cautioned our trainees and advised their parents to stay with them at home during the stipulated period of the unknown.

What have our trainees been up to for the past 8 days at home?

Prior to the short political holiday, we advised our trainees to focus more on needle work, drawing new designs and crafting textile waste at home in a meeting we held at the conference hall of @thegreens. The Directors of Training and Executive Director of @thegreens (@mr-greens) had as duty to frequently communicate with the trainees so ensure that they are safe and busy with needlework, drawing new designs and crafting new products from textile waste.
So far, our trainees have been busy and when they come back on the 10th of October, you will be amazed with the designs and stuff they have been able to make.

Other senior trainees who have machines, have been tasked to keep sewing and keep track of the amount of dresses they sew as well as the amount of textile waste they produce.
You can realize that amidst the challenges, we are still doing what we do best; recycle textile waste and promote fashion designing.

@fundition crowdfunding Report

This week, we have received six gigantic upvotes from @fundition for our project which strives to purchase 07 sewing machines. We are really inspired with how fast our crowdfunding campaign on @fundition is moving and our special gratitude goes to @fundition for creating such a decentralized crowd funding platform and for supporting our project. We also want to say thank you to all our backers. We are thinking of @pennsif and @adollaraday, @indigoocean @martin-mikes @treeplanter @rasserano @earthtribe @tribesteemup @ecotrain @canadian-coconut @chrisaiki @gogreenbuddy and all our 3836 Backers who have supported and will keep supporting us.

We can do more but we lack materials and machines to increase our textile recycling and women empowerment project. We have 11 trainees and 02 Training Directors but have just 06 machines which are not enough for the 13 young girls who are striving to get empowered as well as clean-up the world. It is for this reason that @ecodesigns is striving to raise funds to purchase 7 machines so that we can double our productivity and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our textile recycling and fashion designing training.
