Project Giving is a fully accountable Non-Government Organization (NGO) founded and operating on the Steem Blockchain. It has a goal of bringing financial resources and exposure to small-scale charitable initiatives around the world who seek to improve their local communities or surrounding environments. They raise funds by getting in touch with these initiatives and working together to create Steemit based content showcasing how their charitable work is making the world a better place.

It works by fundraising through the collection of Steemit upvotes (100% of post payouts are sent to initiatives). Steemians use their influence on the blockchain to facilitate meaningful social development around the world. After every post-payout, donations are extracted from Steemit and sent directly to the initiative as a form of Steemit based financial assistance.

Their first Initiative fundraiser is about Yokaenso, a small non-profit organization based in Mwanza, Tanzania, which seeks to promote environmental conservation, food security and create youth employment & empowerment in their local community. Yokaenso has created a community organization which employs youth and teaches them essential skills that are necessary for escaping poverty.

Yokaenso organizes weekly waste collection by their team. Plastic waste is recycled and organic waste is used to create compost/ high-quality fertilizer. They are seeking to create a small-scale farm and use that fertilizer on it to produce and distribute locally produced goods. In order to reduce the use of plastic bags, reusable paper bags are distributed to the local community which will improve food security. While doing all this, they also focus on education and hold regular community workshops where they talk about the benefits of environmental sustainability as well as the benefits of entrepreneurship.

This project not only takes care of our planet and ensures that proper waste disposal with recycling in place is an ongoing growing movement, it also helps the people by encouraging them to work and earn enough funds to support themselves with the use of sustainable living. Community members are educated on how to live cleaner, healthier and safer lives. All this is being done by only 12 hard-working volunteers who deserve and should get all the help we can give them.
