Fundition proudly presents: @drmaizo 's project: "Fundraising for my arthroscopy surgery studies in Europe"
Today we have a very interesting and important project to promote to you but let us start with a very important thing that MUST BE SAID: "This project should not be asking for funds by crowdfunding." We want the funds for it to be raised as soon as possible and we want it to be successful. As for why it should not be here, we will tell you later, in the ending of this post. The project is about a very talented and high-praised doctor from Venezuela who needs our help. It is a shame that he does and it goes to prove how wrong and harsh the world sometimes may seem. On the other hand, you can look at it from another angle and say that this is our opportunity to create a better world and show how it is actually an amazing and helpful place. Let us do that.

The project is called Fundraising for my arthroscopy surgery studies in Europe and is done by Dr. Leopoldo Maizo, an Orthopedic Surgeon from Venezuela that is known on steem as @drmaizo. He spent 13 years of constant study to get where he is now, a well-respected and acknowledged professional in his field.
After developing an idea, "a new concept" (carpalgia), and presenting it to surgeons in Venezuela, he obtained an award by the Spanish Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology in September. He was also published in the Spanish Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology RECOT, one of the most recognized journals worldwide in his specialty. This all produced a high interested in what he has to say so he got great proposals. He was invited to give talks as a speaker at the World Congress of Orthopedics for two consecutive years, different Congresses of great prestige in Europe and Asia. On top of all that, he was offered an additional academic training as a Fellowship and all he needs is a little bit of our help to ACTUALLY GET THERE.
Here are the expenses that he needs help with:
- Air transportation 883 euros
- Land transportation 50 euros
- Hosting 150 euros
- Food & Beverage 200 euros
- Administrative expenses 100 euros
- Total 1383 euros (1595$)
Once his training is complete, he will obtain credentials and experience as a future shoulder arthroscopy surgeon. He will then be even more able to contribute to the patients of Venezuela. This country is in a lot of trouble as it is and it certainly will benefit from some extra trained professionals in whom people can have trust and feel safe when going to them.

This was the hardest post to write in the last 5 months because I am deeply hurt by it as a human being. We live in a world where DOCTORS need crowdfunding. Think about that for a moment and let it really sink in. This is not a personal thing. It is not a game or an art project. This is about the health of actual real people and the education of a medical professional. It pains me to think how much money is being spent on military, missiles, bombs, weapons, and guns by various governments while doctors need help from you and me. It is a disgrace and I for one hope that this kind of project never again ends up on Fundition. My hope as an editorial director (and I am sure that I speak on behalf of an entire Fundition team) is that something will change soon and there will be no need for a project like this one. Until then, we can all realize that this project deserves love, support, attention, and donation. Open your hearts. We have.
