Just last week John McAfee began his "Coin of the Day" which initially pushed coins like Verge to make record gains within minutes of his endorsements on his Twitter account @officialmcafee.

This began to disturb the altcoin markets and many exchanges begged McAfee to stop doing these daily pumps.

Finally, just yesterday, McAfee agreed to go to a "Coin of the Week."

After a day of silence, McAfee's Twitter account today began to spew coin endorsements that were clearly posted in haste.

With only minutes following each post, it became clear that McAfee's account had been taken over.

Minutes later, McAfee himself tweeted that Twitter had been contacted and he confirmed the hack.

Some of the coins affected like Siacoin (SC) jumped 25% only to completely retrace nearly immediately.

Many in the crypto community are calling fowl play while others say it was bound to happen with unchecked power.

Do you agree with what McAfee is doing?

Has McAfee pumped any of your bags yet?

Anyone who blindly follows a promoted coin or token without practing their own due diligence deserves to lose money. This is life... I wish the losers (one's complaining) would just get over it already!

Won't argue with you there, friend.

Many are too eager to charge into markets and lose money.

Well, it was expected to be honest. Hackers sniffed out the occasion after seeing how much impact he has on described cryptocurrencies and complaints from people. I don't really use Twitter, isn't there some kind of double verification before posting a tweet?

Nah, no verification needed to post. It's incredibly insecure.
