Social media site Gab moving forward as the platform for true freedom of speech

Some of the inherent fundamental inalienable human rights that we all cherish are freedom of choice, freedom of thought and along with that, freedom of speech. It’s part of what makes us human. This human right has been censored though throughout history and in different societies to differing degrees, but the advent of the internet has really opened up the opportunity for people to speak freely to the entire world via online publishing.

However, censorship has been tightening in recent years, with the traditional channels like Youtube, Facebook and Twitter blocking certain accounts they deemed unfavorable.

And this is what led to the advent of social media site Gab.

Freedom – the most valuable human right

Although controversial, Gab was founded in 2016 by Andrew Torba and is still going strong today. On his Gab profile page the CEO says

“I’m fighting for a better internet that puts people first and promotes free speech for all.”

Human biology is such that we are communicators by nature, and we all have the desire to speak our minds, to some degree or other. Social media platforms really allow us to communicate to the world...until they don’t. And more freedom-loving, libertarian, progressive, radical thinkers are having their speech censored, despite them actually speaking the truth or presenting a valid point.

The problem lies in the fact that some of the points mentioned by activists may run contrary to the mainstream desired narrative which is dictated by the powers that be (PTB) who run the entire show.

The global elite own the media and dictate the narrative

Most of the mainstream media channels in the English speaking world are owned by a small handful of elite corporations that are in bed with the politicians who act as the “editors-in-chief” behind the scenes at these media companies, which are simply bull horns or mouthpieces for the political propaganda narrative of the day. Free speech and free thought in the form of healthy debate and dialogue are stifled or redacted so that only the desired narrative is presented to the masses.

Gab keeps the communication channel open for all

Gab has become one of the few lone voices in the wilderness to really empower the masses once again with their social media platform – a tool for totally free speech, based on open source software. Admittedly it has gained the reputation for being an echo chamber for extremist views, whether alt-right or alt-left, when those people are banned from the other mainstream platforms and turn to Gab instead. However, this is not necessarily the case among the almost one million users so far.

There are many who have grown dissatisfied with the content filtration, disinformation and data harvesting experienced on the other platforms and simply desire to keep their channels of communication open online.
Banned on mainstream platforms

Despite having their app banned from Apple and Google stores, as well as PayPal and Stripe payment services, Gab soldiers on, based on their philosophical stance that freedom of speech is your basic human right. Even Coinbase closed their account, where they used to receive Bitcoin payments, as well as CEO Andrew Torba’s own personal account thus leading him to now promote decentralized exchanges as the way to go for Bitcoin – the “free speech money”.

Crypto is ultimately the financial tool to free us all from the grip of central banks, run by the same elite PTB that want to keep us enslaved to their system to benefit the 1% and this is precisely Gab’s liberating angle.

Free speech with common decency

That being said, censorship against obvious media crimes is still in place naturally, as common human decency is still in tact on Gab. But when Coinbase even shuts down the account of the non-profit Wikileaks platform, then we know they are buckling under the same pressure from the PTB that hate to see their crimes revealed. Well Gab is the place for online social media whistle blowers today. Bitcoin is the liberator of our money and Gab is the liberator of our speech, and they go hand in hand on the blockchain.

Crowdfunding to implement Bitcoin payments

Recent reports reveal that Gab has just made a bid to raise $10 million in a Series A crowd funding project. This is a step towards completing their social media platform by fully decentralizing its infrastructure as well as integrating Bitcoin and Lightning Network payments.

“Our plans ... are to integrate Bitcoin and Bitcoin's Lightning Network tooling into our line of free speech products to empower our users to facilitate commerce, tip one another, and be more free from corporate censorship and control.”

Dissenter Web Browser

Gab also released their own open source “Dissenter Web Browser” as they call it, which appears to be able to rival the new Brave browser, as it also provides a built-in ad blocker. It goes a step further as the “Comment Extension” allows signed-up users to navigate any URL and make and see comments by other users about any site in a sidebar. And this feature is available as an extension on other mainstream browsers too, even if you don’t use the Dissenter browser.

Liberation philosophy

Ultimately Gab is a multi-layered platform empowering all to speak freely, as seen on their investment website where they state

“To defend themselves and promote their causes, the oppressed need voices, and if one is to adopt an objective principle that defends the free speech and privacy rights of any oppressed group, one has defended all oppressed groups, whether our management agrees with these groups’ beliefs or not.”

If Gab is successful in their fundraising project then in time they will empower still more sovereign citizens of the world to feel safe once and for all when they express their gift of the Gab.
