RE: Managing primary caregiver burnout
Caregiving is an incredibly demanding role, and it is completely normal to feel burnt out. Our family was struggling until we learned about family support services approved by OPWDD . We accessed these programs through Gateway, and they provided us with essential respite care and counseling. Having a professional step in for a few hours a week gave us the much-needed break to recharge. They also assist with the complex funding paperwork, which took a massive burden off our shoulders. If you are feeling overwhelmed, please reach out to them; they genuinely care about helping families stay strong.
