Why Game of Thrones needs George RR Martin - Winter is no longer coming.

What is happening with Game of Thrones? Why has the writing gotten so bad.

Ok, so I read the books, so have expectations, busy these days but a few things to sum up how I feel:

NOTE SPOILERS BELOW:

Do not read below

if

you

have not been

alive and or watching cool things

in awhile

  1. So the night king just dies? What did he want? Wasn't he a stark? What about the Children of the forest and the isle of faces and the bloody greenseers at the neck? What?

  2. Barely anyone died. I honestly thought almost everyone would die at/in Winterfell and just a few would escape on a dragon or two. I wanted to see a number of our favourite people, dead in and around Winterfell and then, the best scene of the entire series.... The night king brings many of our favourite characters, dead on the ground, back to life, with nice blue eyes.... Even worse people had fake out deaths, Jamie, Brianne, Sam, well, almost everyone, the hound, Jon... almost dead. But still alive!

#art - Just imagine the blue blue eyes he would have... looks scary as heck! That would have been awesome. George RR Martin will give us this, please?

@themarkymark had/has a cool contest about who would live/die this season. I thought pretty much everyone would be dead by this point in the season. I expected to be terrified that the people were going to die. Instead total cop-out. Everyone lives and all magic is dead? Boring!

  1. @swedishdragon knows, and I know, and everyone that saw it knows, that the battle strategy was terrible, 1 out of 10. Put everyone outside of the big safe castle and then charge your group of hard as bros on horses into the dark to be taken out by, well death. Bad writing. Sorry #HBO (#hbo) but you failed on this one. Dumb dumb and makes for cool shots, but George RR Martin would never do any of the things in this episode...

  2. Lord of light? No Azora Ahai (sp)? Or Ayra? WTF?

Some good things:

  1. it was beautiful.

  2. music was awesome.

  3. dragons flying up batman style up by the moon was cool.

  4. zombie scene in the library was pretty cool and felt better than the walking dead was in years.

This sums it up.

Hahahahaha.

Feel free to yak about this below.

Just for the record, for the show, my prediction (I know nothing) is that tyrion and sansa take the iron throne at the end... that is how I feel the HBO team is taking it.

In conclusion, we need George RR Martin back. Please please please bring us the #windsofwinter. Please

Seriously.

It was beautiful and the music is always killer, but cannot beat the books.

I could not believe that they'd hype up the whole white walker season thing season after season and then this is how they end it. I was shocked... And left disappointed that so much of the lore was left untouched. You say the night king might be a Stark? I thought they tie him into the Targaryen line when he survived the flames. So much left unknown...
And although I am okay with Arya getting the kill, the way in which it was done was just lazy. I know she's super stealthy, but there is a ring of superhuman undeads and she just jumps through. And wasn't there a whole lightbringer prophecy that they just decided to ignore?

Over a week now and I am still not over it XD

Hey!

Could not of agreed more. Fire versus ice, the great battle distilled to ... operation Cersci! :(

I always thought he was going to be a stark (the night king), but I like the idea that he is actually "fire"... cool. agreed that he survived the flames...

Agreed too. Lightbringer? Lord of light? God of death?

Araya's entry was cool but agreed, unrealistic even for fantasy. hmmmm.

Unless it was a fake out and the night king wasn't really dead, and that the last episode really is all magic again. Now that would be, well, at least cool. Wait and see?

But hard to recover from, agreed. Do we have to just wait until the winds of winter (the book?)?

at least Ramin Djawadi keeps up with some really cool tunes... excited to see where he takes us in the last two with music too. Cheers!

I thought that the Night King was a Stark and a Targaryen - just like Jon Snow/Aegon Targaryen. I completely agree with how there's been so much just rushed along here - very disappointing for a show that, in previous seasons, paid so much attention to even minor plotlines.

That Arya killed him did seem fitting, though again, rushed of course. I like the whole "Not Today" reference being brought back - Syrio Forel would have been so proud of her :)
