Pokemon GO, going to get knocked offline by a skilled hacking group.

in #games8 years ago (edited)

Hey guys, I came across this the other day, and thought I would share it with you all.
You might have gotten more worried than you should be by the title, but still, some of you will still be quite upset ahaha.
Some of you may know or have heard of the hacking group "PoodleCorp", they have hacked many youtubers channels, including LeafyIsHere. Anyway, in an interview, they informed the news reporter that they were going to perform DDoS (distributed denial of service) attacks on Pokemon GO's servers on the first of august. This will make it so that nobody can play the game, or if they can, it will not be pleasant to play.

The leader of poodlecorp posted this -

As you can see it's clearly directed at pokemon, but it's not specific what the attack is.
Interviewers have told everyone that some of the members of PoodleCorp have been claiming to have a 600k botnet (600,000 Infected computers, routers, dedicated servers etc) and they seem to think it will be more than enough to drop pokemons network.

Luckily, poodlecorp have only claimed to do this for a day or around 20 hours.
Could this be the next Lizardsquad? With what lizardsquad done to Playstation & Xbox, could this be a new hacking group following Lizardsquads footsteps?

Assuming that Nintendo have invested in really good protection with their 5 million dollars a day earnings, If poodlecorp do manage to successfully drop their servers, It will be quite impressive, and if they can manage to take down that, who knows what or who their next target will be.

So get ready guys!
