Welcome back, readers! In this mission, I must conquer two cities; one across the waterway and the other on land. I conquer the most difficult city to access and that is bringing my troops across the river to attack. I didn’t notice the enemy city on land. Below are the prologue and mission. Signing off! Sejuk!

At 43:49 mins, I announced my invasion upon Lujiang!

At 1:00:58 mins, I moved my troops near Yuzhang to invade Yuzhang!

Prologue

After he pacified all the counties along the Great River, Sun Ce sent a memorial to the court detailing his victories and established relations with Cao Cao. At the same time, he sent a messenger to Yuan Shu to demand the return of the Imperial Seal. Yuan Shu planned to declare himself Emperor, so he made excuses to Sun Ce and didn’t return the seal. Yuan Shu’s intention was to attack Sun Ce, but he was advised to attack Liu Bei first and then take on Sun Ce. Yuan Shu accepted this advice and Sun Ce took advantage of this opportunity and captured the district of Lujiang from Governor Liu Xun and accepted the surrender of Yuzhang from Governor Hua Ying in the fourth year of the reign era Jian An, “Established Peace” (199 AD).

Now Sun Ce had become ruler of Wu, the land south of the Great River. Next, Sun Ce reported to the court in Xuchang and sought the post of Great Minister of War, one of the highest offices in the state, but Cao Cao refused him. Sun Ce then plotted to surprise Cao Cao in the capital. However, Xu Gong, Governor of the Wu district of Wujun, secretly wrote to Cao Cao warning him of Sun Ce’s intentions and suggesting that he recall Sun Ce to the capital. A messenger was carrying this letter across the river when a border guard seized him. Sun Ce killed the messenger and Xu Gong was strangled.

Later, Sun Ce was seriously wounded by assassins. The assassins were three of Xu Gong’s men attempting to avenge him. During the ceremonies when Sun Ce was discussing with Yuan Shao’s envoy how to arrange an alliance against Cao Cao, Sun Ce found that the Taoist priest, Yu Ji, known as “the Immortal Yu”, was respected highly by the government officials and the public in Wu. In the face of opposition from the assembly of officials, Sun Ce beheaded Yu Ji in the name of doing away with evil. Before long, Sun Ce himself died of a sudden and severe illness. He was only twenty-six years old.

After Sun Ce’s death, his younger brother, Sun Quan, took up his brother’s unfulfilled cause. Sun Quan considered the situation, recruited an army, collected horses, food, and money, and won assistance from a great number of men of wisdom. In the Major Battle at Red Cliffs, Sun Quan allied with Liu Bei to defeat Cao Cao. Afterward, Sun Quan shared the realm with Liu Bei and Cao Cao.

Sun Quan was endowed with a square jaw and a broad mouth. He had green eyes and a purplish beard. Formerly, Liu Wan, a Han envoy to the south, had met all the sons of the Sun family and said, “I have had a good look at all these brothers and they are all clever and perspicacious, but none of them are destined to live long with the exception of Sun Quan. His face is remarkable and his build is unusual and he has the look of one who will achieve great honor and live a long life as well. None of the others can equal him.”
