Introducing HEX - with an example of a non-fungible token created inside the game.

The honeycomb is the highest level view of the HEX token generation system, showing each attribute that influences creation.

To create a token:

Let’s pick some numbers and see what we generate:
H = {5, (9,0,-2), (0.3,-0.7,0), (5,3,-1), (4,3,9,8,5,5), (1,7,9,8,5,2), 3}

The center of the HEX honeycomb. Each vertex (MON, LOOT, etc) shows one of six HEX tokens: player-owned Ethereum tokens. Each is created using machine learning systems for procedural content generation.

The core attributes that make up each token are represented by hexagonal duality pairs. Here the elements are represented by the hexagonal set of pairs Fire-Water, Earth-Sky, and Solar-Lunar. The Divine triangle (Solar, Sky, and Fire), are the positive axes (Ex,Ey,Ez) and the Void triangle elements are their negative counterparts.

Hexagonal adjacents combine to create a new element. Triangular adjacents combine to create the base element between them. Solar + Sky = Water. Earth + Fire = Metal.

Let’s look at our choice of E(9,0,-2) and see what we’ll generate.

We’ve generated a Vapor type by mixing Solar and Water. Our MON has an averaged 5.5 elemental power and can cast MOVEs requiring that much or less Solar, Water, or Vapor elemental energy. This builds in a balanced tradeoff: breed a single element into your MON if you want them to quickly be able to access MOVEs requiring high power. Breeding in multiple strong elements is difficult and takes time, but MON with multiple elements can access a wider range of tactics and eventually scale up.

Race is calculated by hexagonal dualities with magnitudes adding to 1. Race affects generation and combat like element but doesn’t combine in the same way. We chose R(0.3,-0.7,0) so this MON will generate as a Root type with Aetherian qualities.

Class influences MOVEs learned and general combat behavior. The hexagonal duality graph for Class naturally balances combat. Tanks can’t be healers, burst damage can’t control, and melee can’t be strong ranged. We chose C(5,3,-1), so this MON is a healer with ranged and crowd control MOVEs.

SOMA calculates traditional combat stats with six positive axes. Our choices are S(4,3,9,8,5,5) so we have stats of 4 health, 3 damage, 9 constitution, 8 mana, 5 defense, and 5 dexterity.

Ego describes existential attributes like how many tiles a unit takes up and its overall power and rarity. This hex takes 6 discrete values like Soma. We chose G(1,7,9,8,5,2), our MON takes up 1 tile and has high rarity, intelligence, complexity, and luck so will most likely have a wide range of relatively powerful MOVEs with plenty of casting ability.

Here we chose A(3), so our MON is in its adult phase as a specialist that can participate in combat with commands from the HERO.

With our parameters {5, (9,0,-2), (0,1,0), (-5,3,-1), (1,1,8), (4,3,9,8,5,5), 3} we generated a Rooted Vapor Healer MON in its adult stage with relatively good stats.

By burning HEX this MON can be minted as a token belonging to the player and living outside the game in their Ethereum wallet.

These 6 interacting systems generate a universe of content with rare and player-unique elements, that get their value by being necessary for progression and domination in the HEX universe.

This sounds really cool. The hex.world map looks cool as well. I like the 6 elements / 3 pairs that you have picked out and the way they interact to form the sub elements is very intuitive. Awesome!
