SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE

From Software has been telling us more about their upcoming game and the players have fun talking and discussing whether it will be Bloodborne 2, something new in the Souls series or a whole new one. Finally, E3 showed a brand new brand and brought a few surprises. The first is that the game kept the slogan from the trailer to the final name and that's what Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Surprisingly, it is also a fitting into not a completely traditional feudal Japan, but this time FromSoftware has turned from demonic themes. The latest surprise is that this time they do not cooperate with Sony or Namco, but with Activision.

We could try the game at Gamescome, and although it carries a lot of stuff from previous FromSoftware games, it brings a lot of news. And it looks like this is not just about the folklore of the world that you have to study, but the game will offer a full story in which you take Sekira - a one-armed solitary wolf. You are a shinobi, your master has been hijacked by the hostile clan Ashin and left you with the fate of your fate. However, this does not end, on the contrary, it only begins. The hero moves with a mechanical prosthesis instead of his hand, and he sets out for revenge.

The Gamescom demo played at the Ashina clan and showed us a few newcomers in the game. We started on a tree near the castle, and as I looked around, people did not hesitate to jump despite their death into the gap between the tree and the castle. I will not deceive, I also ended up there trying to get out of this place, where there was nothing beside the tree and the rocks, and only the empty void. With the prosthesis, a crash hook comes to play and plays a significant role here. So you can solve a lot of them. Whether it's such an obstacle, or you get to the roofs and other elevated places to give you a better position.

You may have already read that the development of Sekir began as a sequel to the Tenchu series. From there, the game completely diverted to the story and the action, but there are at least a few things left in the game, and one of them is the incorporation of the stealth progression. Once again, the game is tough enough, but if you are careful and careful and careful, you will have the opportunity to avoid confusion and enemies, for example, by jumping from the roof. Instead of a struggle that can make your life stand, it will end up once with a well-wounded blow. This is something you did not recognize in Souls / Borne games. On the contrary, the things you've seen here are not here anymore.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a primary action game and no longer offers RPG elements. You will not find any class selection, character creation, gradual enhancement in RPG style, and so on. You do not even find a multiplayer element that is known in Souls. This time, the authors have really focused on single-player storytelling and it's up to you whether you try to solve the fight quietly, or go straight to the action.

Even the action has changed somewhat over Souls. Still, it does not feel like it's a game from FromSoftware. It can not just push the buttons for the attack and you eventually beat the opponent. Again, it's about timing, denial, blocking (with which you have a stamina that is gradually being lost) and finding the right moment for the attack. Development again leads Hidetaka Miyazaki, but this time he decided to give the fight a more distinctive historical and even more realistic impression. However, you still find combos that you can use if you have plenty of space. And you still need to think about where you come from. It will probably be well covered, but it's different from behind.

In addition, the fights are still bloody. They are based on the "holy trio" of elements - there is a strike / attack on the enemy, the Souls game must not miss the deflect (or, therefore, the block where you create a gap in the opponent's defense) and the third element are prosthetic weapons on the other hand you can get all of it together to help fight, although it will probably take a while to practice. These were in the three and we could switch between them: ax, shuriken and flame vent. They deal with different situations, different enemies. Such a general is immensely immune to them, and with a good portion of his life he can do well. We will see what other weapons will offer the full game when it comes out next year in March.

Together with some of the positive elements of the Souls series, however, some of the negative effects of the Sekir gameplay have penetrated and they certainly did not please me, certainly not alone. The former general, in the demage, was among the great enemies. With a big sword. And if you played Souls games, you probably know that these enemies are not always fair. Simply by that big sword they get busy and trap you through anything. And that was exactly where it was. Is there a wall between you and the general? It does not matter, it will also hit you through it. It can be done, but it's not something you would like to see in the games. Moreover, it was not the only demo bug. Even the enemies were stuck to themselves.

The demo has shown us even a straightforward ninja, very nice stylized (though slightly outdated) graphics, and sound and music were fine. Returning to the mechanisms of praying (Sculptor's Idol sculptures), collecting emblems of emblems (like any analogy of souls?), But interestingly, the possibility of dying twice as the name itself says. After death, you do not have to go from the last chekcpoint, but under certain circumstances you have the opportunity to be born in the same place. But be careful, because if there are still enemies, they will not hesitate a hundredth of a second to put you back in the spawning. This clearly shows that FromSoftware has shown a willingness to get out of the comfort zone and try something new while still wanting to reach out to its fans in recent years.
