SUPER SMASH BROS. ULTIMATE

in #gaming6 years ago

Nintendo took this year's E3 somewhat differently, and although it introduced some new games and showed us in detail other titles already known, actually spent all three days one single game, which is the biggest that this year will bring to the Nintendo Switch. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has not only experienced its first official tournament, but also a detailed show where we could see all the characters in the game, the different arenas, all the old and new mechanisms and really much more to learn about the game almost everything we can .

And what we could not find out, we could try out on our own skin on the Nintendo Post E3 show, where a few demo versions of the game were available right now. And it was a good thing the game was to be tested for four players at once in two configurations - with classic Switch drivers (Joy-Cony in Gripe and Driver Drivers) as well as GameCube drivers, as the GameCube series was the most glimmering and these drivers will experience return with the release of the game in winter. You will be able to plug in an adapter similar to the Wii U.

Maybe it was from the videos and the presentation, but that was even more impressive than the game itself. It's already a part of the series and it seems we've come to where other wrestling sites such as Tekken, Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter are currently in place. From the outside, the differences between the last parts are simply wiped out. You see different characters, new arenas, it looks a bit different, but still very similar to a direct predecessor. In order to discover the real differences, you have to go deeper and try out how the different gaming mechanisms have changed and modified - what has come to pass, what has faded and what has gone wrong. It is a layer that is hidden from the game's eyes and the most noticeable ones are those who spent the evenings in these games.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

One thing, however, in the case of this game, stands out above all others and gives the name itself the truth. This is really the ultimate Smash Bros. and see where Nintendo will be able to move with the brand in the future. It's mainly about the content of the game, which is massive and Nintendo has decided to incorporate into the game so far every single character that appeared in the series. The Ultimate will bring up to 68 characters in total, which is an unprecedented number in your genre, and everyone can find your favorite. The return of many familiar characters, however, means that the brand new is less - specifically two: Inkling and Ridley of the Metroid series. There are also non-Nintendo characters, such as Cloud from Final Fantasy VII, Sonic, Ryu or Solid Snake, to which the actor David Hayter gave the voice again.

Also, characters returning from the past have been updated to visually better reflect their current appearance. Link matches its form in Breath of The Wild and Mario has Cappy of the Odyssey on his head. The characters also offer other visual variations and the game brings with them Echo characters, which, although based on another character in the game, are unique in their capabilities. You will notice, for example, the princesses of Mario Universe, where Daisy is Echo Peach, but it is unique. Each character has its own moves, attacks, statistics, and works altogether in combat. It takes a while for you to find the character that suits you. But not all the characters will be unlocked right from the start and you have to get them progressive.

Also the returning characters have been edited, expanded and balancing, so you can not rely on having a character from the Wii U version to play as well now. The basis may still work, but it's just the details that separate you from the victory where significant changes took place. These can be, for example, concentrated attacks or movements that require regeneration. You need to learn new special skills and do not miss the Final Smash attack, which can be shuffled off the screens of all the opponents at once if they are not careful.

The Smash series is typical of being able to act simultaneously and chaotically for uninitiated players. After all, you have relatively few buttons on your attacks, and you do not even find a fancy combo like some other fighters. At the same time, the combat system is very fast, there is always something on the screen, the players are more and the arenas are very dynamic, so you are at risk of life just as the arenas evolve and move or even destroy. However, there are still power-ups that can fight NPC characters on your side. And they just add old and new Assist Trophies, which are the items you can take during the battle and help them fight.

If you are in the series, you probably will not know anything about it, but the demo Ultimate has shown us that the built-in and modified combat system has both a great and new impression at the same time. There are things you know and you can do, but also the things you need to learn. In addition, there is still a classic English "easy to learn, hard to master", so it's easy to get into the match, give away a few kicks and maybe you will not end up last. But the game requires a lot of hours to really handle it, and despite the nice and long games we just scratched the surface of its gameplay.

As for the arenas themselves, those in the demo were not available as much as a character, but you can be sure that as many different characters are represented in the game, these licenses are also fused into arenas representing the typical environment of that game. I have already mentioned that the arenas are very dynamic and you are always in danger, but you will find them in several configurations right now. The most significant is the Omega form, where downfall immediately means a loss of life, and these are more tenacious.

However, it is a shame that, as far as the technical qualities of the game are concerned, there is no such progress as Wii's predecessor. The game is not a remaster / port, but a new title, but it is similar to its predecessor too much. You would probably want to see something new, fresh and visually unique. Again, however, I find that Smash is as competitive as the last two parts are not very different from each other. The arsenals also return a number of old well-known songs, which you can also see from the game's brand names.

But we finally got a distinct feeling from demos - it's chaotic, but still royal fun, even for newcomers. Fights are short, you do not want them to "kill" the opponent, but by attacking him you get the energy and try to get him out of the way. You want to keep yourself in it again. It's another kind of gameplay, less bloody, still very competitive. It's good to look at it, even though sometimes the flood of effects may lose the ignorant player. It's still too early to be able to evaluate some mistakes in design and balancing, but the authors still have enough time to fix these errors if they are there. The bottom line is that the base is here high-quality and solid, so we do not expect the playability to roll out.

It is a pity that we could not try more game options, but only classic 4-player games. In addition, the game will also offer singleplayer modes, artificial intelligence and, in particular, battles of up to 8 players on one screen, which will be a massive massacre, whether they go for themselves or players in the teams. If I had something to say now, it is in fact a similarity to the predecessors. Sometimes you do not have the impression that this is a sequel. You may feel the 4 previous games at once, and all of it still has a lot of editing and upgrading.

Thank you very much for your support!
