How to tell if a game is a clone from another
The difference from a similar to a cloned game
If it really were a clone, companies would act, just like the guys from DotA interfered with Heroes of Newerth development. The heroes were the EXACT SAME THING except for their appearences. This was intended! HoN was forced to stop copying heroes. Instead, they had to come up with their own ideas.

Nowadays it's only similar, but they literally had the same mechanic! It has been patched over and over ever since.
If it’s different enough, then it’s not a clone.
