Fortnite Season 5 drops and worlds collide

in #gaming6 years ago (edited)

Season 5 of Fortnite Battle Royale is now live with a brand new map, skins and Battle Pass.

The lead up to Season 5 has been one of the most talked about yet. Cracks forming in the sky from the rocket launch that everyone stopped to watch. Worlds are now colliding in Fortnite as things vanish from the map and new things appear. Watch the announcement trailer below if you missed what went down.

With a brand new Battle Royale map, some new places have been transported in. Most notably, the bottom right corner of the map as now been replaced with desert terrain. Goodbye Moisty Mire and Hello Paradise Palms. Anarchy Acres is also nowhere to be seen and instead was have Lazy Links. Some more unnamed places have also popped up. Take a look at the comparison below:

Some more changes have also been added to the how the storm works. ThePatch Notes tell us that:

The centre of Storm circles 7, 8, and 9 can now shift in random directions (instead of simply shrinking). As the storm closes in, it will move & shrink to the new location.

This means that claiming a mountain in the middle of the circle and building up on it may not be such a safe tactic anymore. The circle will be indicated on the minimap in an area close to the current one, as it will be shifting, but it may already be in the storm. Once it starts moving you will have to move with it so this could catch some people out in the open.

With the new map comes a new vehicle in the form of an All Terrain Kart (ATK). Use the Kart to race your teammates or your enemies around the racetrack in the new desert area. Unlike the shopping cart, this Kart can fit four players and has the ability to drift and gain a speed boost. You can build ramps and drive up them to get there faster and the roof can also be used as a bounce pad.

How did this all get here do you ask?

Well, the Rift portals that had been created at the end of Season 4 have been teleporting things all over the place. There is still some leftover, scattered around the map. If you run into one, you will be teleported out of a crack in the sky and fall back down to the ground. This could be a quicker way to get around the map as you can skydive once teleported. However, if you drive into it with the Kart you could end up taking some heavy fall damage and break the ATK.

Of course, with a new season comes new skins and a new Battle Pass. Play as a Viking or a Lifeguard and shoot some hoops with one of the new emotes. Battle Pass owners can unlock these skins as they level up. Have a look at some of these new skins in the video below:

Its crazy how Epic has been able to modify their game so often for players to have evolving experiences. It definitely ensure that players remain engaged and keep coming back for more.

Indeed and with stability also. PUBG introduces anything extra makes the servers very unstable haha.
