How to be better at PUBG (What other guides won't tell you)

in #gaming6 years ago

PUBG, probably the number #1 online game at the moment next to the traditional MOBA's, it's a genre of its own, a trend setter and a heck harder to master than your typical shooter game.

You've probably seen several guides online so I'll list down things that I've learned first hand from my numerous Chicken Dinnerrrrrrs to both solo and team play. I have around 500+ hours of gameplay logged in and I can safely say I'm a vet by any means.

Without further ado;

PUBG TIP #1 DIE and DIE SOME MORE

Happy-Death-Day-Featured-min.jpg

Whut?! die? yes! Die a whole lot more. This isn't Hunger Games by any means and you'll get plenty of restarts for as long as you pay your electricity and internet bill. If you've seen the movie Happy Death Day then you'll catch my drift.

The thing is, you have to die swinging. You have to be aggressive, you have to put on your Rambo face and get that lust for killing. This is to help you get a feel of the game, get the blood pumping, get you used to bullet physics, and how to engage people in close, medium and long ranges.

Especially if your playtime is below 100 hours, I highly advise you to drop in the following locations; School, Military Base, Pochinki (old map) and at Pecado, Hacienda(new map) Those locations always have lots of action in store and will keep that adrenaline running.

PUBG TIP #2 Use your ADS often

maxresdefault (1).jpg

And I mean really often. For those living under a rock, ADS means Aim Down Sights. If you have scopes attached, it instantly switches to a zoomed in mode for your gun. Use ADS for medium and even short ranges as it gives more focused fire.

Don't forget to lean left or right while in ADS, it will confuse your opponent that's aiming for your head (which is often the case)

Also, Use the right scope in relation to the distance and always always, adjust for RECOIL. Master the gun you're using and make sure to scroll your mouse down as you fire to compensate. It takes practice, and you might have to die a lot to master this skill.

NEVER USE HIP FIRE unless you're in the same room and you need to move while firing to confuse your opponent.

PUBG TIP #3 Sound sound sound sound

Make sure your headphones are placed on the right ear (if it says left place it on the left) this matters because while PUBG isn't surround sound supported, it does give you spatial recognition from the sounds.

NEVER USE the in game Voice chat as other players can hear you, use third party software like discord to communicate.

Be familiar with the sound of grass, metal and wood. The sound if people are under or over you. Mastery with your hearing can give you a definite advantage when the time comes.

Keep comms clear, and chatter to a minimum. (where's the fun right?) well if you want to get those chicken dinners, you guys have to start being professional.

If playing with a team, ALWAYS ALWAYS be aware of the bearings (AKA COMPASS) at all times and the landmarks and landscapes that come with it with or without an enemy. Why you ask? because you might never know who's going to surprise and spring right up. So when action finally starts you can immediately give coordinates to your team.

Like say if you're waking in between a field, on your SE is a tractor, North is a warehouse. Keep this in mind as you move, and update it as you go. Always have a mental picture of where you are to avoid a delay in relaying information.

PUBG TIP #4 Don't be afraid to hoard

mHCRvuG.jpg

Most especially if you have a bag that can fit it. You must always carry the following regardless of your load out;

M4 and Vector stock
Vertical Grip (for long range weaponry)
Angled Grip (for shorter ones)
Stock Uzi (deadlier than most smgs at close range)
Bandages (you'd be surprised at its use mid game, when you don't want to waste first aids)

Always carry these as you might get the weapons that need them or if you're playing with a team, you can trade and help equip your team to survive better.

PUBG TIP #5 Loot fast and efficient

m37ZX5B.jpg

And by efficient I mean Loot dragging. It takes a while to master, but it's the most efficient and fastest way to loot. Click-dragging your loot to your inventory makes looting more accurate and makes your left clicker more active.

How do you do it? Well as the name implies, you click an item and with one flicking motion, you place it on the right side of your inventory. If it's equipment, you flick it to the direction of the box where it's suppose to occupy.

This is way better than be at the mercy of right clicking and waiting.

PUBG TIP #6 Always be on the move

maxresdefault (2).jpg

Even when seemingly behind cover, always move your feet. PUBG is as close to reality when it comes to shooting a moving object, and its hard AF. A moving target, is a hard target.

Event when looting, press tab and keep on shuffling your feet to diff directions while loot dragging. This reduces the chance of dying from sniper shots by a big margin.

PUBG TIP #7 You must always have your back against the wall

pubg-4k-06.jpg

And I don't mean be desperate all the time, but in the literal sense, have a wall, rock or object behind you. PUBG is a 360 degree open game, shots can come from anywhere, and it will help you loads if you have one less side to expect shots from.

And if all else fails, if in an open field, you can always rely on the Blue circle border as your "wall" be sure however that you're the only one who came from the direction of your "wall"

PUBG TIP #8 Change your crosshair color

maxresdefault.jpg

It could be any color except white and the default black one. I personally use the Red color as this does not blend well with the ever-changing environment of PUBG. This is especially useful when you have to fire from the hip in dark areas of the map.

PUBG FINAL TIP relax and have fun

If you haven't got that elusive chicken dinner yet, play loose, play agressive, have fun and relax. Easier said than done but it helps a whole lot. Chances are, you'd win it eventually and once you do, you'll get that confidence that chicken veterans get.
