Beating An After Game Super Boss In 50 seconds, Part 1/13; Step By Step Guide.

in #gaming7 years ago (edited)

No damage, no items, no party members, all under a minute. The fight is done in Proud Mode level 99. All base stats are at 80 (the game soft caps here for bosses). This is part one of my series trying to beat all the extra super bosses in Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Final mix without taking any damage. This boss fight is Number 13, Roxas. The Keyblade's chosen one. After the video I will go over what I did to manipulate his attacks. Be aware, although the boss is defeated in under a minute, the explanation and step by step is quite lengthy depending on your stats. However a lot of the information here can be brought to other bosses as well. (P.s, sorry about ending the boss fight right on the music climax)

Every boss in Kingdom Hearts 2 is given the mechanic of Revenge Value. Revenge Value is basically a hidden meter that you normally can't see unless you hack the game. It tells the boss how much damage it can take before it can break out of a combo and retaliate. A YouTuber known by the name Bl00dyBizkitz does an excellent job explaining how this works and I will leave a link to his video at the bottom. Since I know that Roxas has a set amount of damage he can take before he hits back, I can manipulate the way he attacks and force him to retaliate when I want him to. Effectively it allows me to loop his attack patterns.

There are three stages to Roxas, and by using this strategy I am able to skip the last 2 completely. Roxas changes into his second phase once he goes below his first four bars of health. He starts adding lasers and basically puts on a light show besides his normal attacks. Knowing this, I want to avoid reaching that limit at all for the beginning of the fight. You'll see me avoiding any extra damage at a certain point.

At the beginning he has three options to attack with. In my video you will only see two, but they consist of a normal ground combo (the one you didn't see), a dive attack from above, and a Keyblade flick. The first step is to reflect his opening flick (He always starts with this attack) and go straight into a full ground combo, plus Explosion for the finisher. Roxas will then always use his dive attack, which is what we want. In this fight, you always want to hit his Revenge Value. After this, he will do any one of his 3 moves. Continue to dodge and retaliate as needed until you bring him to about three bars.

This is where the second part starts. Once you bring him down to this level of health, allow him to attack without being interrupted. This means don't guard or reflect his attacks. Instead dodge roll or use another means of getting away. The attacks you want to get are the flick or the dive. These take the least amount of time and are easiest to dodge. However it doesn't make much of a difference if you aren't speed-running. The reason why you want him to do his combos, is because it takes him four full combos to get to the reaction command The End. This command allows you to steal Roxas's weapons and bash him with it. Be aware that you have to scroll through your command menu and select the correct one to succeed with the attempt. Don't be afraid to pause if the timing is too fast for you. It is most advantageous to have your select on the second option as you can scroll fastest to the others.

Once you successfully get his Keyblades, immediately dodge roll forward once possible to dodge his lasers and stand next to him. As quick as possible, before he can touch the floor go straight into Limit Form. The form damage will knock him back into the air for a good while allowing you to get the jump on him. Now, there are two ways to do this part depending on your form level and stats. If you are anywhere below 75 in strength and magic, you'll need to have at least two elixirs. If you take off both of your combo plus abilities, you will be able to do two full combos on him before he retaliates. The important thing here is make sure he lands before you start a new combo. If you fail to do this, you will use Limit Form's second finisher which will break the loop for a bit potentially causing death. Just wait for the Keyblades to stop attacking him and watch for him to settle. Be aware that this will trigger his Revenge Value once you finish your second combo.

Now that you have gotten this far, as soon as you end the combo make sure you immediately go into your shortcuts and press Triangle. This will activate Ars Arcanum. The special thing about Ars is that it gives you brief invincibility allowing you to dodge through Roxas's retaliation unscathed and continuing your attack. The other special quality is that Ars Arcanum does not add Revenge Value except for the final hit, ironically also named The End. If you hit that command, it will always completely fill the Revenge Value meter. This will obviously ruin your strategy and must be avoided. Once you have accomplished this you have two choices. If you are maxed in strength and drive, then go for another full 2 combos and jump into another Ars Arcanum as I do in the video. After that, one more combo will finish the fight.

However if you aren't maxed out and are below 75 in strength, then you must be prepared to do some item usage. After you hit him with the Ars Arcanum (except the last hit) you will need to throw an Elixir and immediately go into another Ars Arcanum. This means that you need to have an Elixir added to your shortcuts for it to work. Just make sure it isn't Triangle or you wont be able to use Ars fast enough. The reason why it needs to be an Elixir is because it has a time lag after you use it. This means that you will be able to use Ars Arcanum right after you throw it, and it will completely refill your magic. After this just rinse and repeat until he is dead. Every two Ars Arcanum just throw an elixir. If you want to be dangerous, throw in a normal combo every two Ars but watch out for his retaliation. If you follow the steps correctly, CONGRATS! You just beat one of the hardest bosses in the game in record time. Without getting hit once. Sorry for such a long explanation haha, but it really is precise buttons and movements.
