I would probably agree on most of that. But really the games that will not catch the gamer's attention will simply get lost in time. I've actually been doing some "historical" gaming posts lately, covering noteworthy games released in certain years (last one is about 1998) and most games on those lists are well familiar for most people, however every year there are dozens of games that might be called as "the next big thing", but in reality they are forgotten a few years later.
