Ultra's Reviews: The Legend of Zelda, Breath of the Wild (Wii U, Switch)

in #gaming6 years ago

So, I am Finally getting to it.

Just a note I have not Completed everything in BotW, Because I would be Crazy if I did.

I also Do not own the DLC for this game, so I don't have Hero Mode, Or anything like that. Just good ol' Fashioned Vanilla BotW.

So, Let's Begin

PLOT

Like most other Zelda Games, BotW is really Plot Rich. So Buckle up, we got a long one here.

The Game begins with our Hero, Link, Waking up in some weird place called the Shrine of Resurrection with a Voice telling Link to Wake up.

Inside the Shrine Link is told by the Voice to Grab an Artifact in the Shrine called the Sheikah Slate, The Sheikah Slate is basically an Ipad, It has a Map, and a Zoom Function, and as you progress though the Story you Unlock more Apps like a Camera, A Bomb App with two Types of Bombs, a Magnet App that lets you control metal Objects, an App that Freezes Moving Objects in time, and an App that Makes Ice Platforms over Water.

After waking up and Leaving the Shrine of Resurrection Link finds himself in an Area called the Great Plateau, and Meets an Old Man who Supposedly Lives here.

After Finding some Weird Ruins Link puts the Sheikah Slate over some Pedestal, which Causes some Towers to pop out of the Land, the Tower then Fills in the map of the Great Plateau. and While on the Tower Link is introduced to our Main Villain, Calamity Ganon, Seeing the Calamity over the Castle from the Tower.

Afterwards the Old Man Glides down of a Paraglider and Points link to Direction of a Shrine, and he says if Link can get the Treasure in all 4 Shrines in the Great Plateau he would Give Link the Paraglider

After Link Gains the Apps for the Sheikah Slate and Getting the Treasures of the Shrines the Old man Says he will give link the Paraglider at the Center between all of the Shrines, Which just to happens to be the Temple of Time.

There, The Old Man Reveals his true Identity, Turns out this Helpful old man is the Ghost of King Rhoam, The Last king of Hyrule(that's the Land's name By the way). Then he does a Lore Dump on Link, Revealing Who Link is and what happened 100 years Ago, I won't Spoil it but after the King's Exposition He gives Link the Paraglider and now Link has Access to the entirety of Hyrule.

From that Point you can follow the King's Advice and Go to Kakariko Village, or You can do whatever you like. the World is your Oyster.

GAMEPLAY

BotW Plays a little Differently then other Zelda Experiences.

Instead of being kinda Linear with areas Blocked off and Locked behind Certain Items, This time around Everything is Open, and you can do whatever you want, it's kinda like games like the Elder Scrolls series, or Fallout.

Mainly the big things you are looking out for is Shrines, not only do you gain a Warp Point so you can teleport there at any time, but completing them nets you a Spirit Orb, Collecting 4 Orbs can gain you a Heart container or a Stamina Vessel.

Towers will also fill in maps, But they do not show too much information, only enough to where it's Useful, but not Like where all of the Individual Shops are unless you find them on your own.

There are also Monster Camps, Which killing all of the monsters Net you a Treasure.

And Sometimes a Blood moon may occur, Blood moons Makes all Previously killed monsters Respawn.

There are a ton of things in this game That I will not go over, Mainly because This is a Type of game you have to Experience on your own. Which i highly suggest that you do.

PRESENTATION

This game Is Beautiful, Great Graphics and the Style of the game makes the Locations stand out.

The Music is mostly unnoticeable or non-existent, Which Actually works in this game's Favor as this is the type of game you have to Play Calmly While you are being one with the...well Wild. With the Quiet Ambiance of Wild life Fit's this games Theme to a T.

THE BAD

While the World is Big and Beautiful. it is....well....Empty, yea there are enemy camps to fight and Shrines to do, but if you complete every shrine...now what? You got some Camps that net you some Mediocre Loot, With very Few Settlements This world just comes off as Empty.

Also. Rain, Screw the Rain, it makes it 100 times Harder to Climb a Mountain.

OVERALL

I know I left out many things for this game, But as I said before this is a type of Game you have to Experience on your own time

While I'm not personally a Big fan of these types of games, I know that this game has a Legacy.

I will not be Rating this game, instead I urge you to play it for yourself and find your own opinion, this is the Kind of game where One Review wont do it Justice.

That's it, That is Breath of the Wild, It is a Fantastic Experience, If you own a Switch or WiiU, Play it.

That's about it see you all later
